Nam Tok Nang Rong is a popular play area located in Tambon Hin Tang. The fall cascades over three levels with nice drop pools between. The water source is from high in Khao Yai National Park so the water is cool, providing a revitalising relief from the tropical heat.
The falls are best enjoyed during the rainy season. In the dry season, the fall usually dries up to a gentle trickle. There are many visitors every weekend throughout the rainy season. During the week, most of the Thai visitors have to return to work so it is much quieter.
At the base of the falls are a few rustic restaurants. You can get some great authentic Thai food and a cool beer. Try the somtam (spicy papaya salad) with grilled chicken and sticky rice.
Next to the stream is the popular Sida Resort. It is the ideal place to base yourself for a stay in Nakon Nayok. They can arrange trips and guides for any of the local attractions. They also have their own large swimming pool, should you tire of playing in the waterfalls. Other facilities include snooker, fitness room, jogging track, sauna, Thai massage and karaoke. The resort has a wide range of accommodation, including houses for groups up to 8 people. They serve Thai and western food.
From Nakon Nayok town, take route 3049 north towards the foothills of Khao Yai and the waterfalls area. The waterfalls are signposted. 12km out of town the road forks and you need to take the right road. Drive on for another 7km and you reach the Nang Rong Waterfall.
